Journal entry 4
Date: 16.5. 2023
Activity: First version of the game is complete. Ready for playtesting (should reveal some bugs - there are definitely some in there :D)
Notes: Since last devlog, we made gigantic progress with our game. We put all our prefabs into use in dungeons and in overworld for various puzzles and all kinds of fun stuff! Antonín proceeded to make dialogue and npcs for our use and I got straight into dungeon and puzzle making. But I won't write the whole week story in here. Instead i will try to list all of the things that I was assigned to do:
- Puzzle making along with the design of both dungeons which make the main story line of the game
- Mechanic allowing player to pull boxes instead of only pushing them
- Teleport for getting player from overworld to interiors (houses, dungeons, caves...)
- Puzzles in front of cave entrances in the overworld
And that's about it. Our cooperative work consisted of many long meetings on discord and in school talking about what should be done next and how. Overall I really enjoyed working on something of my own design and with the cooperative part (managing Git and making everything so it works with the things other team member made) felt like I really gained some experience in game development, although it is just a small project.
Invested hours: Developing fun puzzles ~ 6 hours
Designing dungeons ~ 8 hours
Fixing bugs ~ 2 hours
Debating on meetings ~ 1.5 hours
(the times are really inaccurate - I really don't remember all work in the last week, but I was enjoying it, so there was a lot of time involved)
Outcome: Build of the game ready for playtesting - includes everything we intended to do, but has some weaknesses which we plan on fixing. A genuine update is in order and we agreed that this isn't the last time we work on this game.
